Chihuly is coming to Boston MFA!!!

I'm a huge fan of Chihuly.  I'd love to plan a trip to the museum say, on April 30th.  If enough people want to go, we could stay overnight at the LaQuinta Suites for a fairly reasonable rate.  They have 2 bedroom suites there.  The dates of the show are April 8th to August 7.   If another date works better, just let me know.   We should stay away from the last week of May and first of June due to the high number of graduations in Boston at that time.  It's just too darn crowded.

Return to the Forbidden Planet

So my good friend Molly makes me go see many plays that I would not otherwise be inclined to see.  Last night we went to the GMUHS performance of Return to the Forbidden Planet.  I prepared for a snooze but as you might expect since I'm writing about it, the play was enjoyable.  It's a spoof on Shakespeare and takes place on an intergalactic ship.  And then there's the music.  I knew the words to every song they sang such as "Don't let me be misunderstood", "Gloria", "Only the Lonely", "Monster Mash" and of course "Mr. Spaceman". There were 20 songs in all.   How can you miss with great 50's and 60's music and a total spoof on Shakespeare?  If you want to check it out, tomorrow is your last chance.  7PM at GMUHS, April 2.

The Nature Museum of Grafton is screening "Mother nature's Child" at  Newsbank in Chester.   Ok, Ok, I believe in getting kids outside and want to spread the word.  Put it on your calendar!

DescriptionFree. This documentary explores nature’s role in the health and development of children and examines children's need to explore and play outdoors. A post-film discussion will be led by Director/ Producer Camilla Rockwell and David Sobel, Antioch New England professor and author of a new book called Wild Play: Parenting Adventures in the Great Outdoors. As an entire generation of children disconnects from the natural world, Rockwell asks: “What will they lose intellectually, emotionally, physically, spiritually? Why do children need unstructured time outside? How is play a form of learning? Why are teachers resistant to taking students outside? Rosie Flores in Bellows Falls Friday Feb. 11th

Rosie Flores is a Rockabilly performer and will be at Boccelli's on the Canal on Friday February 11.  Tickets are $20 in advance or $24 at the door.  I've never been to Boccelli's but love rockabilly music.  If you're interested in going, let me know!
